What to Expect at a Visit

Time

As my patient, you get all my time and attention during each appointment. You will have a safe and relaxed space to discuss your concerns and needs. New Patient visits are typically 60 to 90 minutes and follow up visits are between 30 and 45 minutes.

Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

During your initial new patient visit, I will take a detailed history covering birth history, illnesses, traumas, accidents, disabilities, lifestyle, diet, exercise, and environmental factors, followed by a physical exam much like most physician visits. Using this information, I make a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan customized for you. Prescriptions for medications and/or diagnostic tests, along with recommendations for diet, exercise, counseling and surgery may be given.

Treatment

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a non-surgical, hands-on method of care performed by Osteopathic Physicians to correct body dysfunction, eliminating or diminishing disease conditions.

I utilize a combination of indirect and direct techniques including, but not limited to: Soft Tissue Techniques, Myofascial Release Techniques, Articulatory Techniques, Balanced Ligamentous Tension, Cranial Osteopathy, Lymphatic Techniques, and Muscle Energy Techniques.

Each treatment is unique according to the findings in that day’s evaluation and the treatment goal is to improve tissue motion, increase vascular and lymphatic circulation and balance the autonomic nervous system.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable, loose fitting, lightweight clothing. No jeans, skirts, or dresses, please.  We are a fragrance-free office, because we care for many patients with asthma and allergies.  Please do not wear perfume, colognes, or anything with heavy scents on the day of your appointment.

How Will You Feel

Patients often experience a sense of deep relaxation, tingling, fluid flows, and relief of pain. These changes may be experienced immediately as they occur or later after the treatment.

Patients typically have an initial visit plus 3 to 4 follow up visits. At each follow up visit you will be re-evaluated and your treatment course fine tuned.
